Data mobilisation symposium in Leipzig

Despite an increasing availability of biological data via online portals and data repositories such as DRYAD, huge amounts of biodiversity data remain digitally inaccessible to date. In a symposium organized by the Global Earth Observation Biodiversity Observation Network (GEO BON), the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), and the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv), the more than 60 participants discussed and developed a roadmap for mobilization of biodiversity data. The scientific coordinator of GLOBIS-B, W. Daniel Kissling, and several participants from the first three GLOBIS-B workshops attended the symposium and contributed to developing ideas and practical next steps.
